Provost Scholar Non-Resident Fee Waiver Program for Domestic Non-Resident Graduate Students

The Provost Scholar Non-Resident Fee Waiver Progam provides selected domestic, non-resident students with an out-of-state tuition waiver for one year. Currently, the non-resident fee is $396 per unit in addition to resident tuition rates. A CSU Application must be on file and transcripts of all post-secondary work must be sent to Graduate Admissions for you to be considered for the program. The Provost Scholar Non-Resident Fee Waiver Program is competitive. To initiate your application, first please contact your academic department to alert them to your interest in the program. If the department has insufficient information, please contact the associate dean of your college.

The Division of Graduate Studies does not accept applications directly from students due to a limited number of awards. Each college ranks and submits a list of students for consideration by the Dean of Graduate Studies. The University Provost makes the final selection. The non-resident fee waivers are granted based on academic excellence, standardized test scores (if required for department admission), department-required essay or statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation review. Non-resident, domestic students should review the California Residency requirements because the award is for one year only. See http://grad.sfsu.edu/content/current-students/faqs-information-residency. Awardees will be notified of the award by the Division of Graduate Studies.
