Your graduate program automatically recommends Advancement to Candidacy each semester for those students who meet department specific course, GPA, and other degree requirements.
Upon receiving a recommendation from the Graduate Coordinator and Department Chair, the Dean of the Division of Graduate Studies will approve Advancement to Candidacy when students in your program have fulfilled all admission conditions and met the following criteria:
- Completed or will complete the requisite number of units specified by the Graduate Program and documented in the Degree Progress Report (DPR)
- Maintains good Academic Standing with a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average
- Resolved all incomplete grades
- Maintains active enrollment during the semester of Advancement to Candidacy
Upon approval, the Advancement to Candidacy status will be reflected in your Student Center under Milestones. This designation signifies that you have demonstrated sufficient academic competency in graduate-level studies and are prepared to proceed with remaining degree requirements, including the Culminating Experience.
