Rudolph George Herrera - Master of Arts, Education (Equity and Social Justice in Education)
Rudy has dedicated over 20 years of his career to supporting underrepresented students as a San Francisco Bay Area college advisor. He currently serves as the Transitional Support Coordinator for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at San Francisco State University. As both an alumnus of the U.S. Department of Education’s Upward Bound college preparatory program and a proud EOP college graduate, Rudolph brings a deep, personal understanding of the challenges that first-generation and underrepresented students face in pursuing and succeeding in higher education.
Over the years, he has guided countless students in local public schools and actively engaged in various community organizations focused on educational equity and access. He has also contributed to the field of higher education through conference presentations and initiatives addressing equity, inclusion, student retention, and outreach.
His research at SF State explored the factors that influence the admission and retention of first-generation college students, offering valuable insights into the strategies and support systems that help these students succeed and complete their degrees.
Rudy’s work as an SF State graduate student and EOP Transitional Support Coordinator reflects his deep commitment to supporting first-generation students and advancing equity in education.
