Sabreen Imtair - Master of Arts, Ethnic Studies
Sabreen is a long-time student organizer and a pillar of the SF State student activist community
and has been a scholar leader in the College of Ethnic Studies since her undergraduate years.
She is also a youth organizer with the Arab Resource and Organizing Center and has been at the
forefront of movements such as the K-12 ethnic studies campaign.
In the past 6 months, she has been a leader in organizing, mobilizing, and community-building
for a ceasefire in Palestine. She has been in the streets and city halls, organizing for a ceasefire
and accountability of U.S. support of Israel’s war in Gaza. She comes from a Palestinian family,
is rooted in the Bay Area, is a product of a public school in the Bay Area, and is the first
generation in her family to complete a college degree. Her graduate thesis, “Building the Base:
Arab and Muslim Bay Area Organizing Responses to the 2023-2024 Gaza War,” explores
questions about community mobilization and organization in the Arab/Muslim communities in
the Bay Area
